Records consist chiefly of the files of Douglass Hunt as Vice Chancellor for Administration, 1973-1980. They include extensive materials related to offices for which he had oversight-- the University Personnel Department, Office of the Registrar, Office of Institutional Research, Office of Records and Registration, Student Aid Office, and Office of Undergraduate Admissions. There are also materials related to legal issues and litigation affecting the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and to the University's relations with the state and federal governments. Many of the materials reflect the University's efforts to deal with increasing federal regulation. Of particular interest are files related to efforts to increase minority admissions and to the development of employment and personnel management practices.
